  1. Determine the best date based on the show schedule.
  2. Determine the product/service you want to highlight.
  3. Establish the purpose of this event.
  4. Choose the best possible location.
  5. Send invitations to the media:
    • Trade press
    • National press
    • Local press
    • Television
    • Radio

  6. Develop a press kit (including news release, photos, product data sheet, company background information)
    • Hard copy
    • CD version
  7. Determine the speakers for your event.
  8. Put together a schedule with length of speech and points to be covered.
  9. Anticipate what questions the media will ask and prepare your answers in advance.
